SSM DePaul Health Center is a full-service Catholic hospital and a member of SSM Health Care-St. Louis, sponsored by the Franciscan Sisters of Mary. Opened in 1828, SSM DePaul was the first hospital west of the Mississippi River and the oldest continuously existing business in St. Louis. DePaul is undergoing significant growth and renovation on its campus at I-270 and I-70, including a new parking garage, new cardiac catherization labs, a new patient unit as well as a third medical office building with an ambulatory surgery center, which is scheduled to open in fall 2006.

The SSM Neurosciences Institute at DePaul has signed an exclusive agreement with three of the region's top neurosurgeons to provide 24/7 trauma coverage. In May, we also installed a state-of-the-art Biplane Angiography Suite and partnered with SLU department of Neurology to offer the community comprehensive 24/7 stroke coverage on-site at DePaul. This allows us to provide a level of stroke care that is unsurpassed in the St. Louis region.
