SSM DePaul opens new $5.2 million patient unit
January 7, 2009 St. Louis, MO--SSM DePaul Health Center is excited to announce the opening of a brand new 20-bed patient unit. This telemetry unit is part of the SSM Neurosciences Institute and has been specially equipped and staffed to treat stroke patients and others needing complex neurological care.
“In the past year, the number of stroke victims treated at DePaul increased by 17-percent. So opening this new unit is crucial to being able to meet the growing need for specialized and comprehensive stroke care in our community,” said Sean Hogan, SSM Network V.P. of Ambulatory Services and Neurosciences.
The new unit is located in the north wing of the hospital’s 7th floor. The space was being used to house the SSM network’s finance department. But the department has moved off campus and the space has undergone a massive $5.2 million renovation to convert it into a new in-patient unit.
DePaul is a 457 bed hospital with a 181 year history of exceptional care in St. Louis. It is a part of the SSM Health Care system and operates the only level II trauma center in North St. Louis County. |
